German watchdog says it found no evidence of censorship on Xiaomi phones

What you need to know German cybersecurity watchdog BSI has said that it didn't find any evidence of censorship in Xiaomi phones. The BSI had started a technical examination of Xiaomi phones in September, following claims by Lithuania's state cybersecurity body that the Chinese tech giant censors terms such as "Free Tibet" on its devices. Xiaomi is currently the second-largest smartphone vendor in Europe. Back in September last year, Lithuania's state cybersecurity body said that Xiaomi's Android phones have a built-in ability to detect and censor certain terms such as "Free Tiber," "Long live Taiwan independence," and "democracy movement."
